Grantseekers

The Bonita Springs Community Foundation promotes philanthropy and builds a spirit of community to enhance the quality of life for all who live and work in the greater Bonita Springs community.

The Community Foundation, established in 1997, is a division of the Southwest Florida Community Foundation. Since its inception, the Community Foundation has awarded more than $2 million to charitable causes in the community.

The Community Foundation provides support to nonprofit agencies serving the greater Bonita Springs area through a range of initiatives:

COMPETITIVE GRANTS

Program/project grants are primarily for new or expanded programs and pilot or demonstration projects, which meet a documented need. Capital grants primarily support the construction, acquisition and renovation of facilities as well as capital expenditures such as computers, equipment, etc.

NON-COMPETITIVE GRANTS

These grants are made through donor-advised funds and other funds established by individuals, companies, and community groups that support the interests and philanthropic goals of the donors as well as the Foundation’s mission and operating principles.

EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarship awards provide support for students at the university, community college, and technical/vocational school levels.

TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE

These efforts enable non-profits to receive support on such issues as board development, strategic planning, resource development, and interagency collaboration.

AGENCY ENDOWMENTS

The Southwest Florida Community Foundation and its divisions manage endowment funds for 100 nonprofit agencies, providing them with professional money management to insure their future.

GOOD SAMARITAN GRANTS

A limited amount of funding is available each year for ONE-TIME EMERGENCIES NOT COVERED BY OTHER SOURCES.

The Community Foundation receives recommendations from charitable agencies, which have verified the need in advance. After consideration, the Foundation determines its ability to make the grant.

Grants are ordinarily in the range of $200-500 and must be made to the charitable 501(c)(3) agency, which will be responsible for dispersing the funds to the individuals.

How to Apply

Applications must be made by a charitable agency. Individual requests cannot be honored. Telephone requests from agencies are acceptable with a documented request via fax or email.
